AA, AHR & Our Heroes
on Nov15 2008Thursday, November 13th at the operations center Cary, NC., the staff and executives of American Airlines held the official launch ceremony for their new Veteran Military Employee Resource Group . AHR was invited to attended and present at the event.
Susan Seelbach,Susan “Sam” Seelbach, American Airlines® (AA) Training/Executive and VMERG Chair, proud Patriot Guard Rider, and Soldier’s Angel, worked with the air carrier to form this employee resource group to provide the 1,000 plus employees of the Cary facility an organizing point for supporting our military forces.
The mission of the American Airlines Veteran Military Employee Resource Group (VMERG) is to support the goals of AA by promoting and understanding the roles and contributions made by veteran and military employees. they strive to serve as a liaison between American Airlines and the military community. The VMERG will actively pursue identifying and maximizing opportunities in the market place.
The event was quite amazing. The program included leader presentations, live singing and instrumental and a service testimony by a retired Marine officer. It was one of those events where you just get goose-bumps from the mix of pride and responsibility felt by all for our obligation to our fighting forces.
During lunch, Lance Orndorff had an opportunity to give a presentation on the purpose’s of Camp Hero, our progress to this point, and how VMERG is a great fit for a win-win relationship. There was, as usual, gret interest in the AHR program and an understanding of why our veterans and returning active duty need the services we are striving to provide.
Our thanks to Susan Seelbach and the entire American Airlines team for the invitation and commitment to stand by us as we stand by our Troops.
